Wine Profile

Tasting Notes Upfront, the nose is an intoxicating blend of red fruit, cherry and blackberry giving way to intense sensations of stewed plums and jam. The Corvina provides a rich palate with smooth tannin structure.
Ratings Rated 91 Points Wine Advocate - "The 2007 Cresasso is 100% Corvina Veronese that is aged 24 months in French tonneaux. The wine opens slowly to reveal unexpected aromas of forest floor and wild bramble with ripe cherry and blackberry highlights. There’s a wild or rustic quality to the wine that is further reinforced by the natural freshness and soft tannins. Only after an extra minute or two does the wine start to express itself more vocally with dried spice and leather. Drink 2014-2022."
Winemaker Notes This wine comes from the Costalunga estate in Sant’Ambrogio, a hilly area 300 metres above sea level, in the very heart of Valpolicella. It is notable for its Cretaceous morainic soil with a mass of stones. This Cretaceous stone or “sasso” has given the wine its name, Cresasso, recalling the authentic nature of the terrain and the varietal characteristics of its typical cultivar, the Corvina. Even though the steep slopes make cultivation difficult, the habitat here is ideal for the growth and ripening of the Corvina grape.
Food Pairing Notes A fine wine pairing with all rich and tasty recipes. Ideal with grilled meats, roasted game, sausages and salami. An absolute delight with ripe cheeses.
