Mackenzie's Tasting Notes:
Tears of Llorona is aged in a combination of Cognac, sherry, and Scotch barrels for a minimum of three years. Like a fine Cognac or Scotch, Tears of Llorona is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a tasting glass. For the best experience, let this extra anejo open up for 15-20 minutes.
The nose is complex and rich with aromas of oak, buttered toast, raisins, chocolate, black pepper, and cooked agave.
The sherry influence is immediately noticeable with flavours of raisin and salted nuts on the first sip. After opening up in the glass Tears of Llorona reveals more layers of flavour including candied orange zest, banana, and caramel.
The finish is long, sweet, and slightly salty with a prominent candied orange flavour.
