Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2005 Gran Reserva is made up of 60% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo, and 10% Carinena aged in barrel for 24 months and kept in bottle for 36 months prior to release. A glass-coating opaque purple colour, it has greater density and grip than the Reserva cuvee as well as layers of ripe, sweet fruit.
Production Notes
Bodega San Jose de Aguaron is a large cooperative in the DO of Carinena that controls approximately 1200 hectares with 60% of the vines consisting of Garnacha, 70% of them over 50 years of age. All of their Carinena holdings are bush vines over 45 years of age.
Winemaker Notes
Give this nicely balanced wine another 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it from today to 2017.
Food Pairing Notes
A wonderful, rich wine to pair with braised beef dishes, turkey, soft cheese, roasted pork, or lamb.
