The Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET®) Level One Award in Wines is a one-day course and is taught by Everything Wine and More Assistant Manager, Cheata Nao. In this course participants have the opportunity to taste 12 styles of wine and experiment with food and wine pairings.

This qualification provides a direct introduction to wine. It is ideal for employees in the wine industry, consumers with basic knowledge, as well as beginners. This course focuses on the art of tasting wine, the characteristics of the principal wine styles and the major grape varieties.

We are dipping into some of our older stock for this special event where we will be sampling selections from past vintages to see how time has developed the flavours inside the bottle. This class will feature wines from around the globe in varying styles and varieties that have had some to build character. We will be enjoying wines no younger than from the 2005 vintage, and like all of our Premium Gems classes, it will contain wines found in our Vintages room.

This wine was sourced from the head of pinot country in the vast reaches on Neuquén. The wind swept vineyards with their cool southerly temperatures produce a wine of dark violet colour, with floral aromas, ripe red fruit flavours and a soft, supple texture.

Intense blackberry in colour this wine is spicy and intense on the nose, with liquorice and black pepper hints on a base of well ripened fruits. On the palate it is very fruity at first with ripened tannins, and is also persistent and full-bodied.
